Renowned as Japan’s contemporary master of horror manga, Junji Ito is celebrated worldwide for his exquisitely detailed black-and-white artwork and unsettling stories infused with grotesque beauty. His works explore the thin line between the ordinary and the grotesque, captivating generations of readers with a uniquely psychological form of terror. Highly anticipated by fans, “Junji Ito Horror House 2” will make its Hong Kong debut this Halloween season, presented by INCUBASE Studio. The exhibition will run from September 19 to November 9, 2025, at INCUBASE Arena (B2, Chong Hing Square, Mong Kok), unveiling a deeply immersive Japanese-style haunted house experience unlike anything seen before in the city.
Combining a fully immersive haunted attraction with a rare animation artwork showcase, the exhibition invites visitors to step directly into Junji Ito’s nightmarish universe — delivering an intense sensory experience that is both visually arresting and psychologically overwhelming. It is set to become one of the most unmissable dark attractions during Hong Kong’s autumn and Halloween season.
Test Your Courage in Complete Darkness, Advance Through the Haunted House Guided Only by a “Lifeline”
Inspired by the anime series “Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre”, the haunted experience is led by iconic characters Tomie and Souichi, bringing together ten of Junji Ito’s most infamous horror stories in one continuous journey. At the Hong Kong stop, visitors can enjoy exceptional value with one ticket granting access to two themed haunted zones: Hall A – The Sacrificial Village and Hall B – The Cursed Town. Participants must navigate the experience in near-total darkness, relying solely on a “lifeline rope” to move forward. Along the way, they will encounter spine-chilling recreations inspired by classic works such as “The Tunnel”, “Long Hair in the Attic”, “Library Vision”, “Tomie: Photograph”, “Endless Maze”, “Hanging Balloons”, “Bad Child”, “Headless Sculptures”, “Souichi’s Pet”, and “The Groaning Drain”.
Photography and filming are strictly prohibited throughout the haunted zones to preserve the shock, suspense, and narrative immersion crafted by the master himself. The experience unfolds like a living nightmare — claustrophobic, oppressive, and deeply unsettling.
Confront the Classics – Animation Reproduction Artwork and a Three-Dimensional “Uzumaki” Installation
After surviving the haunted zones, visitors will enter a mysterious exhibition area, where they can view animation reproduction artwork up close and explore Junji Ito’s creative process and artistic vision. The journey concludes in the “Uzumaki Zone”, featuring a striking three-dimensional recreation of one of the manga’s most iconic scenes. Surrounded by spirals of madness and despair, visitors will experience the suffocating presence of supernatural forces and inescapable curses — bringing this chilling journey to its darkest and most unforgettable finale.
Scream-Worthy Exclusives – Hong Kong–Only Merchandise and a Dark-Themed Café
A limited-edition merchandise shop awaits at the end of the exhibition, offering Hong Kong–exclusive collectibles, including Tomie and Souichi T-shirts, acrylic stands, and specially designed items with high collectible value — must-haves for horror enthusiasts. Outside the exhibition area on B1, a themed café presents a menu inspired by Junji Ito’s iconic works. These visually striking “dark dishes” recreate the unsettling atmosphere of his stories, inviting visitors to engage all five senses in a dining experience that is as eerie as it is unforgettable.
